Effect of heat stress on behaviour and physiological parameters of Osmanabadi goats under katcha housing system in Mumbai

چکیده
The aim of this research was to study the effect of heat stress on behaviour and physiological parameters with eighteen goats of almost similar in age, sex and weight into three groups. The consideration of this experiment was taken on Post weaning Osmanabadi kids i.e after 3 months of age. Three groups were divided basing on the duration of grazing on pasture land to make distinguish on the measures of getting outside temperature and humidity. They are categorized as (T1) zero hours, (T2) two hours and (T3) four hours heat exposure. Skin and rectal temperature had no significant differences among the treatment groups but respiration and pulse rate were increased with the increased of heat stress from T1 to T2 group (P<0.05). Lying time (P<0.05) varied significantly in experimental groups. There were significant changes (P<0.05) in number of urination and defecation per hour but no significant changes was found in duration per urination in heat treated groups. It can be concluded that heat stress had significant changes on some physiological parameters and behaviour of goat.

The Use of Housing System in the Management of Heat Stress in Poultry Production in Hot and Humid Climate: a Review
There is a gap between the population growth and protein supply in many tropical countries where per capita income is low and the majority of people consume less protein than a daily standard for recommended protein intake. Poultry egg production remains the fastest route to bridging the protein demand-supply gap in these regions. However, poultry are faced with heat stress in the tropics which...
متن کاملEffect of Zinc and Boron Application on Wheat Mother Plant under Heat Stress on Cell Membrane Integrity of the Produced Seed and Physiological Quality of Seedling
Extended Abstract Introduction: Providing important and effective elements such as zinc and boron- especially in areas where the soil for some reason cannot meet the needs of the plant- will be a good solution to improve seed and seedling quality and nutrition, and community health status. A considerable part of the wheat producing regions in the country are faced with late season haet during ...
متن کاملEffect of Melatonin Premedication on Some Physiological Parameters and Reduction of Oxidative Stress in Tagetes etecta Seedlings under Salt Stress
Salinity is one of the most important environmental stresses which affect the growth of plants. Most of the plants are sensitive to salt stress at the seedling stage, so the growth of them in salt-water accompanies with problems. Various agronomic and physiological practices (treatments) are applied to minimize the adverse effects of salinity on plant growth and using of plant growth regulator ...
متن کاملInvestigation of stress and heat strain in asphalt workers
Heat stress is one of the harmful factors in workplaces. Asphalt workers are exposed to thermal stress due to the open environment and process. The aim of this study was to assess the heat stress and strain in asphalt workers. This study was conducted on 29 employees of asphalt workstation. The heat stress was measured based on Wet-Bulb Globe Temperature (WBGT). Also, physiological parameters s...
متن کاملEffect of Methyl Jasmonate on some Biochemical and Physiological Parameters of Coriandrum sativum L. under Salinity Stress
An experiment was conducted to study the effect of methyl jasmonate (MJ) on salinity stress alleviation of coriander plantlet. The experiment was set up as factorial experiment in completely randomized design with two factors including NaCl concentration (0, 3 and 6 ds/m) and MJ at three levels (0, 0.25 or 0.5 mM). The results showed that salt stress decreased fresh and dry weight of aerial, co...
